Ready or not

4.27.2009

I'm still pregant. I'm a week past my due date so they had me come in for a non-stress test today. Which is where they monitor the babies heart rate to make sure that he is still doing well. All the results were very positive. So it just looks like our little guy is just happy where he is. He's going to be in for quite a shock tomorrow because the doctor agreed to induce me! I don't think I've ever been so excited to go through so much pain :) I'm so glad that the nurse decided to induce me because we were seriously starting to wonder if I would even go into labor on my own. With Ava my water broke the day after my due date, but I never started contractions. So they had to induce me. Going from 0 -10 rapidly is not something I would want to repeat. Luckily this time I am already 3 1/2 cm dialated and 90 percent effaced. So hopefully it will go much smoother. I am so excited for tomorrow. I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight!

Easter

4.15.2009

I was so excited to take Ava to her very first Easter egg hunt. So on Sat. we took her to our local city egg hunt.

Here's Ava counting up her loot. The egg hunt actually had some pretty funny rules. One, no running (nice thought, but yeah right!). Two, you are only allowed to pick up one Easter egg. Maybe the city was trying to save money, but most of the candy was just thrown out on the grass.

Ava had a blast at the egg hunt. When the announcer said "Go!", she ran out there with her basket and picked up her candy. She was even more excited when she realized that there were Smarties on the ground (her 3rd favorite kind of candy). Once we got home she actually counted out how many Smarties she had gotten. One, two, nine, two, five...gotta love little kids when they are learning to count.

Here we are on our way to church on Easter Sunday.

After lunch Ava got to open her Easter basket. Immediately she started opening her plastic eggs and flinging out the candy, until she came to the one egg that was full of Jelly Bellys. Which she immediately grabbed two handfuls and put them in her mouth. She would not let go of that egg.

Ava also got a little Strawberry Shortcake backpack filled with books. Here she is modeling her new accessory. She loves filling it up with her special treasures and toting them around the house.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. I am exactly 6 days away from my due date. So hopefully the next post I do will be about little Reid! Or as Ava calls him, "baby Reeeee".

Last Hurrah!

A few weeks ago we decided it was pretty much now or never if we wanted to fit in a vacation. So Josh took that Friday off and we packed up the minivan and headed to Monterey and Carmel for the weekend.

Ava kept debating whether or not to get into the ocean. The last time we went to the beach (back in Jan.) she ran into the ocean only to find out it wasn't as warm as she remembered. We have a few more months until we can actually splash around in the waves.

Ava's brillant parents totally forgot to grab the sand toys on our rush out the door. But luckily we had a cup and a lid in the car. She was actually quite content and didn't think anything of it.

After relaxing on the beach we walked around the little shops in Carmel. The weather was amazing, so we decided to eat outside at this little cafe. It was heavenly!

Later that night we went out to dinner at a seafood restaurant and the waiter gave the girls a rose. Ava would not let go of the flower all night long.

The next day we headed over to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This was Ava's first trip to the aquarium.

She had fun at first, but eventually she just kept asking for "Nemo". After asking for him about a million times we finally just skipped everything else in the aquarium to find the clown fish. It was so cute when Ava actually laid eyes on the little fishy. When anyone walked by she would point to the glass and exitedly show them Nemo. She could of stayed there all day.

No trip is complete without stopping by Girahdelli for a huge, banana and hot fudge sundae. Hmmm...I'm in heaven just thinking about it!
