Sugar Cookies
11.02.2008
I don't know what it is about this time of year, but every time Halloween comes around I feel like making sugar cookies. Maybe it is because Thanksgiving and Christmas are insanely busy. This year I was so excited to have Ava bug give a hand in the kitchen. She helped tap the eggs and loved using the roller. She was a great little helper!
Sorry for all the videos lately, but I thought the grandparents would get a kick out of this one.

Bay Area Discovery Museum
10.27.2008
Last week a friend of mine suggested taking the girls out to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. I've been holding off going until Ava was old enough to really enjoy it. Now that Ava has walking down pat, I was totally excited to go. I didn't even bring her stroller in with us. Scary right? But the little squirt loved getting to walk everywhere on her own. Way to go Ava! Here's a slideshow of our adventures.
Here's a cute little video with some of their adventures...

Monkey Soup
(If you're using Google Reader, you will need to go to my actual blog to view the video)
This bucket makes the perfect hat. Hmmm...or better yet...

A bigger and better bowl for Monkey Soup!

You may be wondering why it's called Monkey Soup. Well, it's because Ava will only allow her blue, plastic monkeys to be mixed in the bowl. Krysten and I unsuccessfully tried adding a whole number of other objects to the bowl, but Ava would not stand for it.

Ava, can I have a taste? That looks so good!

Ava is at a really fun age right now. Her little, or should I say BIG personality is really starting to shine.

Ava's got soul
6.13.2008
If there is a piano in the room, you will most likely find Ava next to it. She was the happiest little girl once she grew tall enough to reach the keys of on her own. The other day I put the keyboard on the ground so she could play it on her own...and lets be honest, I wanted a few minutes to do a few chores! Ava loves banging on the keys and pushing all the buttons. She just happened to discover a button that plays a song when you push it. Check out Ava grooving to the piano...

We've got a walker
6.11.2008
Ava surprised us the other day when she decided to walk over to where I was sitting. It's been a few weeks since and now she is starting to climb up on furniture and anything else that she can hoist herself up on. Good thing she's small for her age because it limits her climbing possibilities!

Happy Easter
3.24.2008
We hope everyone had a great Easter. As for us we had fun starting some new traditions with Ava. Even though Ava isn't even a year old yet, I think she had fun getting an Easter basket, wearing her new Easter dress (I think I enjoyed that tradition more than Ava though), and going on her first Easter egg hunt. Ava has a love hate relationship with grass...well, more of a hate relationship :) She usually is crawling all over our apartment, but once you place her on the grass she doesn't move an inch. With Josh's help, Ava was able to walk over to her eggs. She had a fun time placing the eggs in her basket and then dumping them all out. She actually did that all day. She even figured out how to get her Cheerios out of the eggs by throwing them really hard against the kitchen floor.
When we were talking to my in-laws on the phone, my father-in-law asked what was the real reason we celebrated Easter. Josh said it was for the candy. But all jokes aside, Easter is a great time to remember our Savior's love and how much he has done for us. How blessed are we to have the blessings of the atonement in our lives. It is so great to know that because the Savior died on the cross and rose again, we will also get to live again with our families. What a priceless gift.

Swinging Away
2.29.2008
We terribly miss being near our family, but one thing that helps us cope is when we it is 72 degrees in Feb. This past week it has been in the 60's and low 70's. I have probably mentioned this before, but our apartment complex is right next to a park. Ava and I have pretty much been to the park everyday this week. We would be crazy not to go with this great weather. This past Thursday, Josh got to work from home because the company he works for was moving to a bigger location. Josh hardly gets to join in on our fun filled outings to the park. So I convinced him to take an extra long lunch break so we could go on a walk and play at the park.
